Electronic Resources
in the University Library

The University Library provides access to a number of databases for the use of the University community, including a database devoted to women's studies issues:

GenderWatch
GenderWatch provides full-text access to a variety of magazines and journals dealing with women's studies, gender studies and gay/lesbian studies.

Women's Studies International - (EBSCO) - covers the core disciplines in Women’s Studies to the latest scholarship in feminist research. Coverage includes more than 586,600 records and spans from 1972 and earlier to present. This database supports curriculum development in the areas of sociology, history, political science & economy, public policy, international relations, arts & humanities, business and education. Over 2,000 periodical sources are represented.

Depending on the focus of your research or the area you are interested in, a number of databases may prove useful. For example, articles about women in education or educational issues regarding women and girls can be located in ERIC. Articles dealing with women and health issues can be found in databases such as InfoTrac's Health Reference Center. Citations to articles about feminism or women and social issues are located in Social Sciences Index. Please refer to the Subject Guide for E-Resources or consult with a Reference Librarian for assistance in selecting appropriate databases.

Also remember that one of the best tools for finding articles about topics relating to women is Women Studies Abstracts, which is available only in print .
