Biography Resource Center w/ Marquis Who's Who -over 400,000 biographies covering literary figures, science, multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports, government, history, current events and the arts. 

BooksinPrint.com -Contains over 3.5 million title records with 165,000 records on publishers, distributors, wholesalers and book agents. It also includes information on award winners, bestsellers, over 500,000 full-text reviews and inventory data from 19 well-known wholesalers.

Britannica Online -The electronic version of the encyclopedia, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and more!

Cabells Directories Online (Cabells) -directories of publishing opportunities in business related areas. Each Directory helps you select those journals that are most likely to publish your manuscript. The index in each Directory helps you match the characteristics of your manuscript to the topic areas the journal emphasizes, the type of review process, acceptance rate and number of external reviewers. Information on Guidelines, Style, format, etc.

CQ Global Researcher (CQ) -Modeled after CQ Researcher, CQ Global Researcher provides students with reports covering global affairs from a number of international viewpoints. The reports are written by journalists and cover current world issues. Users may search CQ Global Researcher from within CQ Researcher or by using the link provided above.

CQ Researcher (CQ) -is a collection of reports on controversial issues of current significance. The reports offer topic overviews and background information, opposing viewpoint essays, and much more. The database contains reports dating back to 1991.

CQ Weekly Online (CQ) -offers weekly analysis of news from Capital Hill as well as Congressional roll call votes. CQ Weekly claims it is “the choice of 95% of members of Congress.” Nevertheless, its articles are written in lay language and are easily understood by those of us living outside the beltway. The database contains information dating back to 1983.

Dissertations & Abstracts (ProQuest) -with more than 2 million entries, PQD&T is the single, central, authoritative resource for information about doctoral dissertations and master's theses. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350- word abstracts written by the author. Master's theses published from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Titles available as native or image PDF formats include free twenty-four page previews. UMI offers over 1.8 million titles for purchase in microform, paper or electronic formats.

eLibrary (ProQuest/Bigchalk) -a comprehensive reference tool providing access to hundreds of popular magazines and scholarly journals. Other sources include newspapers, photographs, maps, TV and radio scripts, and general reference resources.

Gale Virtual Reference Library (Gale/InfoTRAC) - a database of encyclopedias and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research.

GovEngine.com (GovEngine, Inc. a non-profit organization) -provides organized links to federal, state and local government sites.

GPO Monthly Catalog (OCLC FirstSearch) -covers all types of U.S. government documents, including Congressional reports, hearings, debates, and records; judiciary materials; and documents issued by executive departments (Defense, State, Labor, Office of the President, etc.). Subjects covered include finance, business, demographics, agriculture, medicine, public health, and more.

Literary Reference Center - LRC (EBSCO) -is a comprehensive literary reference database, which provides users with a broad spectrum of reference information from antiquity to the present day. LRC is a completely full-text database that combines information from over 1,000 books and monographs, major literary encyclopedias and reference works, hundreds of literary journals, and unique sources not available anywhere else.

Mental Measurements Yearbook (EBSCO) -from the Buros Institute, contains the most recent descriptive information and critical reviews of new and revised tests from the Buros Institute's 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th Yearbooks. The database covers more than 2,200 commercially-available tests in categories such as personality, developmental, behavioral assessment, neuropsychological, achievement, intelligence and aptitude, educational, speech & hearing, and sensory motor. Each entry includes test name and classification; author(s); publisher, publication date; price; time requirements; score descriptions; levels; and intended populations. ( Updated every six months)

NetLibrary (NetLibrary) - is a diverse collection of eBooks (electronic books) that may be "checked out" to read online. You may browse and preview all the eBooks, but to check out a book to read online, you will need to know your UMass Dartmouth Library barcode number. The barcode number is located on your Umass Pass if you've registered with the library.

RefWorks -RefWorks is a Web-based bibliography and database manager that allows users to create their own personal database by importing references from text files or online databases.

Statistical Universe (Lexis-Nexis) -"Statistical Universe enables easy access to statistics produced by the U.S. government, major international intergovernmental organizations, professional and trade organizations, commercial publishers, independent research organizations, state government agencies, and universities."

USA.gov -a centralized place to find information from U.S. local, state and federal government agency websites.

WorldCat.org (OCLC) -a database of millions of bibliographic records describing library materials in many media. It includes the catalog records of the holdings of more than 9,000 member institutions, mostly in the United States and Canada. WorldCat includes both records of books and other materials that can be requested on interlibrary loan and of rare, specialized, and unique materials, including rare books, theses, dissertations, manuscripts, and sound and video recordings that libraries are unable to lend through interlibrary loan.
